Star of the Month
Sinistar
Owner James Cole
I bought Sinistar in April 2003. It is a 1998 V-Star Custom 650. I changed the pipes with Jardine, had it jetted, changed the mirrors, added a Corbin seat, changed the air kit to an S and S with a K and N filter, painted her myself, and added whole lotta chrome. Recently, I added the oil filter relocation kit from Jardine. She is a work in progress.

Before (As Bought)

After (As Customized)
When I bought Sinistar, she was in rough shape. The previous owner had sanded her down and painted her a dull grey. He changed her pipes but never had her jetted. She ran rough and stalled whenever I tried to ride her. This was my first bike, and I had a lot to learn. I did not understand why anyone would change a bike to make it run worse. Welcome to the world of customization. I decided to make it right. I decided to make her my own.

I am not a rich man. I have limited means, but at least she now stands out, and I stand out when I ride her. When I painted her I was trying for a flame job, coming up from the engine. My wife says it looks more like a red tiger. However you look at it, she looks a whole lot better. I plan to continue modifying her until she is perfect.
